Travel Expert Stephanie Abrams and the "Travel with Stephanie Abrams!" Radio Show welcome Jo Beyersdorfer, Director of 2nd Annual Dirty Dancing Festival, Lake Lure, North Carolina, USA to the June 12, 2011 broadcast.
This year's festival was held September 16 through September 18, 2011. Mark your calendars now for next year! The Dirty Dancy Festival is named after the famous 1987 movie "Dirty Dancing" Directed by Emile Ardolino (1943 - 1993) and starring Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swazey (1952 - 2009). According to Jo, quite a bit of the film was shot in Lake Lure even though the film is set in the Catskills. Visitors to Lake Lure will see familiar buildings from the film and some of the films scenes are reenacted. The Righteous Brothers, who sang the movies theme song "I've had the time of my life" will perform a benefit concert and dancing clinics and other events are planned for the weekend.
