New York States Columbia County in the Hudson Valley Region Has a Lot to Offer
Columbia County is situated 2 hours north of New York City by train or 2.5 hours by car. Its eastern border is the Hudson River and on its western border are the Berkshires of Massachusetts. To its west are the Catskill Mountains region and to its north is Albany.
Columbia County is a generally rural area, but with a rich historical and cultural foundation. The farm-to-table philosophy has been embraced in the county with local farms providing fresh produce for local restaurants.
The county is also home to several historic sites including the retirement home of Martin Van Burren the 8th President of the United States and the home/studio of painter Frederic church, a former student of Thomas Cole and member of the Hudson River School of artists.
