Dutchess County in New York State
Dutchess County in New York State's Hudson Valley Region. You can get to Dutchess County either by car via the Taconic State Parkway or Amtrak into Poughkeepsie. The county is home to the Walkway Over the Hudon River which is an elevated pedestrian bridge which spans the Hudson Riiver and has an elevation of 212 feet and a length of 1.28 miles making it (as of 2014) the longest such bridge in the world.
Other major draws in the region include the Presidential Libary and Museum of former US President Franklyn Delano Roosevelt.
The Culinary Institute of America is based in Dutchess County and visitors can make dining reservations throughout the day at mutliple restaurants. Due in part to the CIA's location within the region, the county is also rife with quality cuisine. Thanks to the lush Hudson Valley soil, farming in the region produces some great produce and many local restaurants embrace the farm-to-table philosophy preparing dishes featuring local produce.
