Kathy's Full Bio:
Kathy Hornig is the Chief Operating Officer of the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts (BOPA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving as the city's special events org, arts council and film commission. After graduating from St. Mary's College of Maryland as an English major, a life-long love of literature changed her career plans when she was tapped to launch the inaugural Baltimore Book Festival. More than two decades later, Kathy continues to produce world-class, large-scale events including Artscape and Light City from a unique, not-for-profit perspective. BOPA's portfolio of festivals attracts more than one million attendees annually, generating millions of dollars in economic impact and celebrating the Baltimore's thriving arts scene.
In addition, as a lead organizer in Baltimore for many years, Kathy has assisted with or managed the production of national events hosted by the city. These include the televised NFL Kick-Off Concert featuring Keith Urban, performing on a barge in the Inner Harbor; the Ravens Super Bowl Parades; Maryland's Olympic Salute to Michael Phelps, Indy Car races; and Star-Spangled 200, a multi-year/multi-day festival that began with an air show by the Blue Angels, and ended with a Guinness record-setting fireworks spectacular.
