Laurence Ghisoiu, Visitor Experience Ranger, UK National Trust, Carrick-a-Rede, Antrim Coast, Northern Ireland.
Laurence's Full Bio:
Originally from Transylvania, Romania, Laurence Ghisoiu first visited Northern Ireland as a tourist in 2008 but now he calls the causeway coast home.
Laurence has worked for the National Trust Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge for over 2012 years, welcoming tourists, guiding walking tours and occasionally giving talks on Carrick-a-Rede’s salmon industry (an important detail and one that originally put the rope bridge on the map - long before it became a tourist attraction and much less perilous).
Fluent in five languages (as well as some Arabic) Laurence never misses a chance to greet visitors in their mother tongue. Regardless of how he communicates, what is always clear is the love he has for his workplace, Carrick-a-Rede.
"Here you can’t find anywhere else in Europe," he said. "I love walking to work in the morning to do the first shift at the rope bridge. This is my office, and it has the best views in the world".
