Paul Carty is Managing Director of GUINNESS STOREHOUSE®. Paul began his career with TrustHouse Forte Hotels where he worked in London, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Stratford-Upon-Avon and Coventry.
He worked in a variety of positions ultimately culminating in becoming a General Manager. Paul then transferred within the group to its sister brand Le Meridien Hotels where he managed hotels in Singapore, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
A people person at heart, Paul’s experience in the hotel sector dates to 1990 and can be felt in the exceptional customer service experience at the Guinness Storehouse, an ethos that he has ingrained into the heart of the Company.
Since opening its doors in 2000 Paul’s passionate approach to his work has seen him welcome 14m visitors through the doors of the Guinness Storehouse, breaking all visitor number records to become Ireland’s Number 1 International Visitor Attraction and Europe’s Leading Tourist Attraction awarded by the World Travel Awards in September 2015.
Now in his 15th year as Managing Director, Paul prides himself on positioning the Guinness Storehouse as a world class experiential brand experience. The Guinness Storehouse provides an unforgettable welcome and a magical journey deep into the heart of the world famous GUINNESS brand and company.
Paul trained as a chef at Rockwell Hotel School. He also holds an honours degree from Shannon College of Hotel Management and the Cornell University New York. Paul is ex-Chairman of ITIC (Irish Tourist Industry Confederation) and sits on the council, he is also a fellow of the Irish Hospitality Institute. Paul plays a key role in Tourism in Ireland and his opinions and advice is sought in this industry.
