If you're going to Boston, which you may not be doing anymore this baseball season so start planning for next year, try the wonderful Commonwealth Hotel on Commonwealth Avenue. From some of the rooms you can actually see the Green Monster, Fenway Park. To get to Fenway Park from the hotel, walk out the front door, walk to the left to the corner, make a left at the corner and walk about half a block and you are at the entrance! It couldn't be more convenient.

Meantime, even if there's nothing at Fenway going on, this is such a terrific hotel. You'll find top-notch management resulting in high quality everything: great service, super-comfortable beds with soft linens, lovely bathrooms, and every amenity you could wish for.

I love the desks in their rooms. They look like they were designed to be placed in Alice's Wonderland. They are huge so you've got lots of space for your paperwork and laptop and you don't have to grovel on the floor to plug in your phone, laptop and other electrical items. The outlets are hidden behind a little cubby door on the hutch of the desk!

There are two comfortable and affordable Italian restaurants conveniently located across the street and at the corner where you turn to go to the entrance of Fenway Park. In the hotel, with an outside street-level entrance as well, you'll find Eastern Standard for fine dining.

While taxis are readily available, and the hotel has a 'hotel car' if you want to arrange to arrive in style wherever you are going, there is also a 'T' stop, Boston's rapid transit system which is a pleasure to use.

And while you're in Boston, check to see if you can get tickets for the Boston Symphony or Boston Pops. Holiday Pops tickets go fast so if you're planning to be in Boston during the holidays, treat yourself to a concert you'll never forget!
