Default Thread Title:  Thailand

Hello Stephanie,

My fiance and I are planning a honeymoon to Thailand and Laos in July. Would you recommend that we invest in any sort of special travelers insurance, or would that generally be taken care of if we make purchases using credit cards? Which also begs the next question, what is the best for of payment when traveling Thailand and Laos?

Default Thread Title:  The Iceland Volcano is the Object Lesson on Need for Insurance

Richard:
Check you medical insurance to see what kind of coverage you have when out of the US. Look particularly at what is provided for medical evacuation in case of illness or accident. Most standard medical policies only provide for care at the 'nearest appropriate facility' which may be in a jungle!

I recommend you consider a strong medical evacuation option as well as cancellation or trip interruption for ANY reason which gives you broad coverage but you must buy the insurance within days or a week or so from the date you make your airline, tour or other plans or you can't get it!

InsureMyTrip.com is a one-stop comparison shopping site for over 20 insurance companies so you can see what works best for you and they have a call center of certified insurance agents who can sort out the best policy for you including policies that cover pre-existing conditions.

Hope that helps!

Ireland invites you to visit the world's only Pubunlobby. What's a Pubunlobby you ask? It's when you're on your way from Bunratty Castle to Giant's Causeway when a wrong turn ends up being perfectly right because before you know it you're sitting in a Dublin pub singing O' Danny Boy with a man named, of all things, Bobby.
