Hi, I heard Stephanie on the radio last night when she was talking to the manager of the Galway Bay Hotel. I have to agree with her that this hotel is just wonderful. I was there last year for the first time (both for Ireland and the hotel), and we had a wonderful stay. My goal had been to wake up on my 60th birthday and have Galway Bay be my first view, and the room we were given made that a morning I will always cherish.
The management and staff were just superb.

Top of the Mornin' To Ya, JKD! I am so glad you acted on your dream and made it happen! So many people just talk about the 'grand travel plan' but never act on it! I know exactly what you saw when you looked out of your bedroom's window from the Galway Bay Hotel and overlooked Galway Bay. What a spectacular view! Did you take time to sit in their conservatory and have a Guinness or a cup of tea? It is so atmospheric in that spot and it's wonderful no matter what the weather although I've had the fabulous luck of having gorgeous sunshine on the occasions when I've been there! Did you get over to the casino that's a couple of blocks to the left of the hotel? If you're not a serious gambler you can play 'penny slots' and I loved their automated roulette game! I did very nicely playing even odds! Did you stop into the Atlantaquarium? It's an aquarium, a block from the hotel and right on the waterfront that only has fish found in Irish waters. If not, it's a must do next time.

Are you planning a return trip? I'd love to suggest some MUST VISIT places to you including Kylemore Abbey, the Connemara Heritage Centre where you must stop in for a look 'round, see the Dan O'Hara House that's memorialized in the folk song and meet Martin and Nora Walsh who own and operate the place.

We'll be at the Irish Fest in Milwaukee this weekend and will broadcast live from the Pfister Hotel. Some of our radio guests who will be on the air with us are from County Galway. This year Galway is the featured region at the Irish Fest which is the biggest Irish festival in the world. They have some rooms left at the Pfister so if you're not a million miles away from Milwaukee, you might want to join us! If you can catch a flight with Midwest Express, you'd get there in no time in style (all planes have 2-across leather seating throughout and their philosophy is to treat all passengers like First Class passengers. It's not too late! What gateway city would you fly from to go anywhere?
